COVID-19 CORONAVIRUS UPDATES

Covid update

We are pleased to announce, we are still Covid free! Yesterday, the CDC announced fully vaccinated people no longer have to wear masks. While that is excellent news in the strides the nation is making in the fight against Covid; unfortunately, this does not apply to health care settings. We are still required to wear masks here at the facility. Many of the residents saw the announcement, and may have questions. We will keep everyone updated as things change.

There are no significant changes to Covid policies in long term care. We are still able to do visits, communal dining, and activities. We are following all guidance from IDPH, and the local health department. Please call with any questions.

Thank you,

Jessica Moody, Administrator

Covid update

We are very pleased to announce, we really do not have any updates. We still have no positive Covid cases in the building, with staff or residents. We are very proud of all of our Residents, staff, and family and friends that have done such an amazing job of keeping everyone safe and healthy. The visiting policies, activities, and dining remain the same. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.

Covid update

We are very pleased to announce we still have no Covid cases in the building. There are no residents or staff with Covid. We are following all guidance by the CDC and IDPH. It has been very exciting to see the residents being able to go to the dining room for meals, and the activity room for activities.

Just a reminder we are allowing visitors. To schedule a visit, please call 309-435-0100, ext 106. As the weather is warming up, many families are taking advantage of outdoor visits. I have had some questions about outdoor visits, so I just wanted to let everyone know we are allowing outdoor visits. I have also had the question come up about children. At this time, no one under 18 is allowed to visits, but window visits are allowed.

The majority of our residents, and many of our staff are vaccinated. The CDC has relaxed some regulations on those who have been vaccinated. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thank you,

Jessica Moody, Administrator

Covid update

We are pleased to announce, we still have no Covid in the building. We do not have any staff or residents with symptoms. The energy in the building has become so much more lively! The Residents are eating in the dining room, with social distancing. They are going to the activity room to participate in activities. They are especially enjoying visits from family and friends. The Residents have also been thrilled to have their hair done. They all look so nice. We are very encouraged by the progress we are making in the fight against Covid.

As always, please call if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you all for your continued support.

Thanks,

Changes to Covid policy:

Following is a list of changes to the Covid policy. The Illinois Department of Public Health put out new guidance, and the following summarizes the changes.

  • Communal dining – will be resumed, but six feet distance between residents and masks will be required
  • Activities – restrictions have been lessened, there is no longer a limit of ten participants. It has been changed to activities as long as six feet of distance between participants can be maintained, and residents are wearing masks
  • New admissions and Residents returning from the hospital – do not need to quarantine if fully vaccinated
  • Visits – will basically stay the same for the time being
  • Residents may come out of their room as long as six feet distance is maintained, and a mask is worn. We are asking residents not to congregate in the visiting area (where the visitors are)

This is great news for the residents!!! We are so excited to be inching closer to “normal”. As always, if you have questions, please feel free to call.

Covid Update

Hi Family, friends, and residents of Mercer Manor,

We are so happy to announce we have no Covid cases among residents or staff. We are in phase III, and things are going very well. We have had the beautician in, and the residents have been very happy to have their hair cut. We were able to have a socially distanced, masked parade in the building for St. Patrick’s Day. We had planned to have it outside, but since it rained, we improvised. The residents then enjoyed a socially distanced, masked St. Patrick’s Day Party. It was wonderful to see the residents visiting with each other, and enjoying their day together. As the weather warms up, our goal is to plan some outdoor activities. It has been somewhat of a stressful year, with the residents having to isolate. Please know how much we have appreciated all the support of the family and friends to keep the residents safe. The residents are so pleased to get back to somewhat normal.

We continue to allow visits. Please call 309-435-0100, ext 106 to schedule a time to visit. We are still scheduling visits in thirty minute increments, with 15 minutes in between to allow for disinfecting. It has been wonderful to see all the family and friends we haven’t seen for a while.

We continue to follow all recommendations of Illinois Department of Public Health, and the Mercer County Health Department. I have been asked a couple of times about the CDC coming out with guidance that those that have been vaccinated do not need to wear masks, and/or quarantine after an exposure. Illinois has not yet adopted that recommendation, so we are unable to allow that at this time. As things change, we will keep you updated.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me, or any of the staff.

Thank you,

Jessica Moody, Administrator

Covid update

We have great news!!! We are now in phase III, as of today. Phase III is not much different than phase II. It does open things up a little bit more. We are putting together a plan, and working out the details of how to safely proceed. We will keep you posted. We are currently following the same visit procedures, but will update you all as things change.

We had a few residents that have been able to get haircuts, and they are very excited about that. We are giving all of the residents the chance for a haircut, it is just a matter of getting everyone through the beautician’s schedule. It’s amazing how much better a haircut can make you feel!!!

We have been able to get down to the activity room to play Bingo, everyone’s favorite, and a few other activities. With the weather being nicer, a few of the residents have taken advantage of it, and gone outside during activities.

We are following all CDC, IDPH, and Mercer County Health Department recommendations. As always, if you have any questions, please let me know.

Thank you,

Jessica Moody, Administrator

Updates

It has been so wonderful to see all of you who have had the chance to visit. It is starting to feel like after a long year of Covid things are a little bit back to normal. The residents and staff have enjoyed seeing all of you.

We have also started taking Residents to the activity room in groups of ten or less. They have enjoyed getting out of their rooms, and down to our beautiful activity room. Earlier in the week, a group of Residents sat outside during activities. Fresh air was such a wonderful change of pace for those that chose to participate. As the weather warms up, our plan is to continue to offer outdoor visits and activities.

Some Residents are also eating in the dining room. We are restricted to ten or less, so those Residents needing assistance or encouragement are eating in the dining room.

We appreciate all you have done to keep the residents and staff safe. We will continue to open things back up safely. We are following all guidance from the Mercer County Health Department and the Illinois Department of Public Health. Assisted living facilities in our region are now in phase III. We are hoping we will be in phase III soon. The nursing home is licensed differently than assisted living, so our guidelines are a little different. The positivity rate in our region is low, and the majority of residents and a good number of staff have received both doses of the vaccine. Hopefully, we will be back to normal soon.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call me at 309-435-0100, ext 101.

Thank you,

Covid update

We are so excited to announce that we are still in Phase II. That means we can allow the beautician to come back in. We know all the residents are wanting a haircut. The beautician will try to get the haircuts done as quickly as possible. She is able to do haircuts and colors, but not perms at this time. She is having a hard time getting perm solution, but will resume perms as soon as she can get the supplies she needs. She will be coming in two days/week to start, and then can free up more time in her schedule. All the residents are very excited about this!!!

We are also allowing visits at this time, and it has been going very well. As a reminder, we are scheduling the visits to accommodate for adequate social distancing. The Residents have been so happy to see all of you, and so have the staff. We know this has been a very difficult time, and we appreciate all of your patience and support.

If you have any questions please call me at 309-435-0100, ext 101.

Thank you,

Jessica Moody, Administrator
